 John Miller

The funeral service of John Miller, who died at the residence of his son
John Miller, Jr., near the Michigan line, July 7th, 1879, occurred last
Wednesday. Elder Preston, pastor of the Fremont M.E. Church officiated, and
the remains were laid to rest in the Fremont Cemetery. His age was 82
years, 9 months and 20 days.

The subject of this brief sketch was born in Cumberland county, Pa.,
September 17, 1795. He came to Indiana in 1856, settling on and clearing
the farm one mile north of the village of Fremont, now owned by Jacob Shank.
For several years he has alternately made his home with his sons Frederick
and John, whom, we believe both reside near the Michigan line and are
well-to-do farmers, and on whom the marks of father time are already plainly
visible. Uncle John was always rugged and hearty, very seldom complained of
being ill and was formerly a member of the Lutheran church.
