Cornelius Moore Steuben Republican 7 June 1862, P.3 clm 1 Died - in Fremont Township on the 28th ult., Cornelius Moore, son of John Moore, aged 19 years 10 months and 1 day. The above was one of the first that answered the call in his country, in this its hour of trial. About a year ago, he left his parental roof, and offered his services and his life to the Union. He was a private in Company A, 29th Indiana, and the reputation of not only being a good soldier but a gentleman. But the ways of the almighty are mysterious, and it was ordained that he should not die upon the battlefield. He was taken sick at Pittsburgh Landings and was sent to the Louisville Hospital, where he lay for a long time growing worse daily, until his father came to his relief and brought him home. But disease had rooted itself to deep, and the comforts of home, and the medical skill, which could be brought to bear, could not save him. He died the next day after his arrival here. He has gone, the long roll will no longer awake him. We deeply sympathize with his bereaved parents. Submitted By: Jean Ann Childers
