STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1891 JOHN HENRY MOORE, M.D., 08 Jun 1818 - 29 Sep 1891 DIED in Scott township, September 29, 1891, Dr. John H. Moore, aged 72 years. Deceased had been a resident of Steuben county for over forty years and was widely known, having had an extensive practice in Scott and vicinity. He was the father of ten children, eight of whom survive him. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Dr. John Henry Moore, 08 Jun 1818 - 29 Sep 1891, was married three times. His 1st wife, Abigail (Lee) Moore who died in 1857 and his 2nd wife, Catharine (Gushart) Moore who died in 1863, are buried together at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. His 3rd wife, Harriet A. (Holdridge) Moore, 07 Feb 1838 - 09 Mar 1888, is buried with Dr. Moore at Jones Chapel, Steuben County, Indiana. Harriet's parents were Dudley H. Holdridge, born about 1806, and Abigail Holdridge, born about 1810. Both were born in Leipsic, Putnam County, Ohio. CHILDREN OF THE FIRST MARRIAGE: Sarah (Moore) James is mentioned as a daughter in the "History of Steuben County, Indiana, 1885." The Cemetery book on pages 949, 951, lists a Sarah (Moore) Hutchins and John Hutchins who were married 09 Feb 1864 per the marriage license. They are buried at Jones Chapel, Row 11, stones 16 and 17, near Eliza (Moore) Lamoreaux and Isaac Newton Lamoreaux. Possibly this is the Sarah (Moore) James. Mary L. (Moore) Allen, 1845 - 09 Jan 1920, married Charles Henry Allen who died 04 Nov 1922. They are buried at Fremont Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Eliza E. (Moore)[Moon on the license] Lamoreaux, 1847 - 1931, on 21 Jul 1867, married Isaac Newton Lamoreaux, 24 Oct 1846 - 23 Feb 1907. They are buried at Jones Chapel. Duane Moore, 1849 - 1924, on 11 Apr 1876 in Branch County, Michigan, married Ida Philatha (Hulwick) Moore, 13 Nov 1859 - 26 Apr 1914. They are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Ida Philatha was the daughter of John and Fanny Augusta (Williams) Hulwick, 01 Aug 1829 - 14 Jun 1900. There is no mention of John in the cemetery book. Fanny Augusta is buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. The 1880 United States Census lists Augusta Hulwick as a widow living with her son-in-law, Austin Knight, and her daughter, Rosenmand Knight. Harriet (Moore) Hulwick, 10 Apr 1851 - 23 Feb 1897, on 07 Sep 1873 in Branch County, Michigan, became the 1st wife of Wallace Hulwick, 122 Aug 1855 - 30 Dec 1928. They are buried at Jones Chapel. CHILDREN OF THE SECOND MARRIAGE: Alfaretta (Moore) Hutchings, 02 Nov 1858 - 1937, on 18 Oct 1876 in Branch County, Michigan, became the 2nd wife of David R. Hutchins, 31 Jan 1846 - 08 May 1921. They are buried at Fremont Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Cora (Moore) Kilburn Hutchins, 1862 - 1939, married 1st, _____ Kilburn. Her 2nd husband was Thomas Hutchins, 1871 - 1938. Cora and Thomas are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. CHILDEN OF THE THIRD MARRIAGE: Dudley H. Moore, born 1870, burial place unknown.
