STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27, 1901, page 1, column 8 MADALENA/MAGDALENA (FETTERHOFF) MOUNTZ, 17 Apr 1825 - 15 Mar 1901 Madalena Fetterhoff was born in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, April 17, 1825, and died at her home one mile southeast of Mt. Zion church, in Steuben county, Indiana, March 15, 1901, aged 75 years, 10 months and 28 days. At the age of five years she moved with her parents to Columbiana county, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Jonas Mountz, October 8, 1846. They lived in Columbiana county until the fall of 1851, when they decided to go west. They arrived in Steuben county, Indiana, in October and purchased the farm on which they lived until her death. At a meeting held at the Klink school house in 1866, conducted by Rev. John Johnson, she gave her heart to the Lord and her hand to the church of the United Brethren in Christ, and of which she was a faithful member until her death. She was always ready to do what she could, give good advice and admonish those around her to be in readiness for the Master's call. In her last illness when asked how she felt, she said, "I feel that I am on the road to Glory." She was the mother of eleven children, one son and one daughter having preceded her to the better land. She leaves a husband, four sons, five daughters, twenty-three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother, two sisters and many friends to mourn their loss. Her remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Zion cemetery, March 17. Funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. S. Smith. Rebecca Elizabeth Mountz, born 16 Oct 1856 in Steuben County. No other information given. Maryetta Mountz, 19 Mar 1858 - 07 Sep 1927. No other information. Henry Mountz, 06 Jul 1859 - 07 Dec 1911.
