STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 1901, page 8, column 3 MARY (OSFALL) NEWMAN, 18 Feb 1850 - 21 Jun 1901 Mary, daughter of Charles and Sarahphine Osfall, was born in Randolph, Portage county, Ohio, February 18, 1850, and died at her late residence in Edon, Williams county, Ohio, June 21, 1901, aged 51 years, 4 months and 3 days. In 1857, she moved with her parents to York township, Steuben county, Ind. She was married to Henry Newman, Jan. 15, 1871. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters. One infant son preceded here to the better land, the rest remain with the husband, seven grandchildren, an aged father, three sisters and two brothers to mourn their loss. She was a model wife and mother, consecrated to her family, generous and obliging to her friends and neighbors and ever mindful of the good she could do. For many years she has been a devoted follower of Christ, and a useful member of the Evangelical church at Salem. She suffered intensely during her late illness, but thanks be to God, she has left her bed of suffering to recline on the bosom of her Savior. The funeral services were held Sunday, June 23, at the M. E. church in Edon, conducted by Rev. Burgener, assisted by Rev. Hopkins. Burial was in Edon cemetery.
