STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1888, p.5, c.4, STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, 1904, p.7, c.7, "24 YEARS AGO, 75 YEARS OF AGE BY 01 JUN 1880" JOHN WESLEY NOYES SR., 14 Jun 1802 - 21 Oct 1888 John Wesley Noyes was born in Bethlehem, Grafton county, N. H., June 14, 1802, and died at his home in Fremont, Steuben county, Indiana, October 21, 1888. In 1812 he moved with his parents to New York, where November 27, 1827, he was married to Dollie Rowe. Ten children were born to them. Seven children are living, three having passed to the spirit world. Father Noyes moved with his family in 1835, to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he lived for about eleven years, and, in 1846, he came to Fremont, Indiana, where he spent the last 42 years of his life. It is thus seen that he was one of the early settlers of Steuben county. Father and Mother Noyes shared together the joys and ills of life for 61 years, until he, worn out with life's conflicts, lies at present in the embrace of death. He united with the M. E. church in 1875, and from that time until his death manifested great interest in the cause he loved, and had a strong desire and hope of a home in heaven when the battle of life was over. Life on earth is done after 86 years, 4 months and 7 days. May we not say: "Rest, peacefully rest". He leaves an aged companion, seven children, fifteen grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church, of Fremont, October 24, Rev. J. N. McCurdy officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: John Wesley Noyes, Sr., born in Coos, Grafton County, N. H., 14 Jun 1802 ansd died 21/26 Oct 1888.
