Steuben -Republican 25 May 1921 SUSAN LUCINDA ( SPANGLE ) PARSONS ( 23 Jan 1846 - 8 May 1921 ) Susan Lucinda Spangle was born in Seneca County, Ohio, January 23, 1846. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Spangle, to Steuben County, and settled in the vicinity marked by the Pleasant View Church. She lived all her life in the county with the exception of four years in Kansas and two years in Michigan. She was married to Seymour Parsons in January, 1861, and to them were born six children, now Mary J. Ring, Susan Fisk, Sydney Parsons, Allie Casebeer, Lula Gleason. One daughter died when two months old. Her life was that of the farm in which she found her sphere of usefulness and gave of her best for the building of the home and the success of the farm work. On the death of her husband, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Allie Casebeer, at whose home she died on Sunday morning, May 8, 1921, in the 76th year of her age. She had been in ill health for a long time bearing with patience her suffering, and longing for the relief which the hand of death brings to those whose pain seems too great to be borne. She will be greatly missed and the wisdom and experience which came from her life will be a factor that nothing can replace. She leaves her four daughters, eleven grand-children and four great-grand-children, and two brothers. Funeral services were held at the Lake Gage Church Tuesday, May 10th, Rev. John Humfreys minister. Submitted by J.A. Childers jeanannchilders@gmail.com
