JEMIMA (EWING) PETTIT, 02 Jan 1826 - 19 Feb 1904

   Jemima Ewing was born Jan. 2, 1826, in Adams county, Pa.  Died at her 
home at Page, Ind., Feb. 19, 1904, aged 78 years, 1 mo. and 17 days.  
Deceased was married to Alexander Pettit, March 18, 1847, who preceded her 
to the better land 12 days.  At the age of 19 she united with the Lutheran 
church at Shiloh, Ohio, and has been a true and faithful Christian till 
called from labor to reward, closing her Christian life in the United 
Brethren Church at Page, Steuben county, Ind.  In the fall of 1882 moved 
with her family to Steuben county, Ind., where they remained till death.  
She leaves to mourn their loss 4 sons and 1 daughter, 7 grandchildren and 
1 great-grandchild.  The funeral was held at her late home attended by all 
her children, Rev. Walter M. Rathbun conducting the services.

   Jemima (Ewing) Pettit, 02 Jan 1826 - 19 Feb 1904, married Alexander 
Pettit, 19 Jan 1824 - 07 Feb 1904.  They are buried at Jordan Cemetery, 
Steuben County, Indiana.  Alexander was the son of John and Mariah 
(McElroy) Pettit.

CHILDREN:  Family Group Record lists children as:
   Albert Pettit (born about 1853 in Ohio who was married to A. J. Pettit 
according to the 1880 United States census, Shiloh, Richland county, Ohio, 
Family History Library Film #1255061, NA Film Number T9-1061, page #25B, 
living next door to his parents.
   Heber E. Pettit, born about 1863 in Ohio.  On 15 Oct 1889, he married 
Anna (Maxton) Pettit.  Dates and burial places unknown.
   Irvin/Ervin E. Pettit, born about 1868 in Ohio, no other information.
   The 1880 United States Census, Shiloh, Richland County, Ohio, Family 
History Library Film #1255061, NA Film Number T9-1061, page #25B, also 
lists a daughter, C. J. Pettit, age 20, as living in the home with the 
other children, H. E. Pettit and E. E. Pettit.
