Steuben -Republican October 1925 DANIEL W. POCOCK, son of Levi and Barbarba Yanney Pocock, was born in Sandusky county, Ohio, January 24, 1860, and departed this life October 9, 1925, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 15 days, at the home of his son, Earle, near Orland, Indiana. His mother was called to her heavenly home when he was four years of age. When a child he came with his father and brothers and sisters to LaGrange county, Indiana. Two years later the family moved to a farm in Steuben county, five miles east of Orland. He was united in marriage with Alvira Davis February 25, 1886. To this union were born Grace, wife of Walter Collins, of Orland, Indiana; Earle, of Orland, Indiana; and Ethel, wife of Harry Clafflin, of South Bend, Indiana, who with his devoted wife, grandchildren, Royal Collins and Donald Clafflin, brother Edward, sisters, Emma, Toledo, Ohio, and Barbara Ellen, wife, of Frank Salisbury, and a number of relatives and friends, are left to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Andrew, and his sister Elizabeth, who died in infancy. He was honest and truthful, a conscientious citizen, a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and a friend to everyone. In young manhood he accepted Christ and united with the Methodist church. In his quiet, patient and unassuming manner he lived his life, always doing unto others as he would have them do him. Truly his life was an inspiration and a benediction to those who knew him best. Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea, For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face- When I have crost the bar.
