Steuben -Republican July 1940 EDWARD WINFIELD POCOCK January 6, 1856- June 30, 1940 Aged Orland Man Is Found Dead At Home Edward W. Pocock, 92, who lived alone in Orland, was found dead at his home on Monday morning, after neighbors notified Sheriff Paul Duguid that the aged man had not been seen for several days. Sheriff Duguid and Deputy Ray Gilbert investigated and found the body of Mr. Pocock in his home, slumped over on the bed. Indications were that he had been dead for several days, as he had not been seen about the place since the previous Friday. Dr. L. L. Eberhart, Steuben county coroner, returned a verdict of "death from coronary occlusion." Funeral services will be held in the Orland Methodist church at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon with the Rev. Edgar Johnston officiating, and burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The body will be at the Klink Funeral Home in Angola until Thursday noon. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ina Blackburn, of Los Angeles, California; and Mrs. Lula Swank, of Battle Creek, Michigan; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a sister.
