Powers, aged 65 years, 1 month and 26 days. The deceased was the daughter of Jeremiah and Nancy Dillingham, and was born in Ontario county, New York. At the age of five years, Eliza moved with her parents to Lenawee county, Michigan. This was in the fall of 1836, and in February, 1838, removed to Steuben county, settling in York township on the farm now owned and occupied by Richard Boyles. They were pioneers of the county and the country being new they had to cut the timber, clear the land and do their part in making what is known as the Powers Settlement. She was married to Myron Powers, December 7, 1850, and to the union were born four children, the two oldest dying when young. Of the two who survive, Elmo, the son, lives on the old homestead, and the daughter, Bettie, in Williams county. Mrs. Powers was the youngest of eleven children all save one having departed this life. The husband, Uncle Myron, as he was familiarly called, died Sep. 21, 1893. Eliza was an earnest member of the Christian church for more than twenty years. She was an honest woman, upright in all things, and possessed of rare mental powers and a strong constitution, being a helpmeet at all times. In her death the community loses a kind friend, and the family, a loving sister and a devoted mother. During her illness she bore her sufferings as only a christian can.
