PUBLISHED IN THE NEWSPAPER JANUARY 9, 1980 LOREN BLAINE POWERS, 21 Nov 1942 - 03 Jan 1980 Services for Loren Blaine Powers, 37, of 2827 Westbrook Drive, Fort Wayne, formerly of Pleasant Lake, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, in the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. The Reverend Russell Brayton, pastor of the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church, officiated at the rites. Interment followed in Pleasant Lake Cemetery. Powers was found dead Thursday, January 3, apparently overcome by exhaust fumes while working on his car in a rented storage space on Huguenard Road, Fort Wayne. Coroner Dr. Roland C. Ahlbrand ruled Powers had been dead about a week before his body was discovered about noon Thursday. Powers was born November 21, 1942, at Pleasant Lake, the son of Leo and Esther L. (Huffman) Powers. He had been employed at a restaurant in Fort Wayne. Surviving in addition to his parents are a daughter, Lori, of Fort Wayne; four brothers, Rolin Powers, of Fort Wayne; Galen Powers, of Bethesda, Maryland; Elten Powers, of Syracuse and Elden Powers, LaGrange; three sisters, Marilyn Penick and Marcia Silberg, both of Pleasant Lake, and Maribeth Green, of Angola.
