NANCY JANE (CLARK) POWERS, 23 Sep 1840 - 06 Mar 1906 Nancy Jane Clark, Youngest of eight children of Horatio and Elizabeth Bailey Clark, was born in Williams county, Ohio, Sept. 23, 1840, and died in Angola, March 6, 1906, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 13 days. In 1851 she moved with her parents to Michigan, and a few years afterward they settled in Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana. Jan. 1, 1860, while temporarily residing at Reading, Mich., she was united in marriage with Calvin P. Powers, who survives. They settled on the old homestead near Powers church where they resided until moving to Angola in 1888. Mrs. Powers was the mother of four children, Lola, deceased; Mora A., who resides in York township; Mrs. Lila A. Gundrum, who lives on the old homestead, and Milo A., who has spent the winter in Angola, called here by the long illness of his mother. Mrs. Powers united with the Methodist Episcopal church, York class, during the pastorate of Albert Cone in 1869 to 1871. This was before the Powers church was built. She was always a zealous member of the church both in the country and in Angola, much esteemed for her unselfish spirit and willingness to do any service within her power. She was above all an exemplary Christian wife and mother in the home. Funeral services were held at the Powers chapel March 8, Rev. Waltz officiating. Interment in Powers cemetery. They are all buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Nancy was the daughter of Horatio N. Clark who died 12 Oct 1859 in Camden, Michigan, and Elizabeth (Bailey) Clark who died 13 Feb 1852 in Camden, Michigan. CHILDREN: Lola A. (Powers) Brooks, 15 Feb 1861 - 18 Apr 1895, on 20 Sep 1879, married Frank E. Brooks, 26 Feb 1856 - 17 May 1927. He was the son of William Brooks, 08 Apr 1822 - 25 Nov 1900, and Mary P. (Richmond) Brooks, 24 Dec 1824 - 21 Apr 1900. They are all buried at Powers Cemetery. Frank Brook's 2nd wife was Mrs. Emma (_____) Zeigler Brooks. Mora A. Powers, 10 Aug 1864 - 1942, married Dora (Gibbeny) Powers, 09 May 1868 - 09 May 1934, daughter of Samuel H. Gibbeny, 23 Nov 1837 - 26 Jan 1911, and Celora/Salona (Kellogg) Gibbeny, 04 Sep 1848 - 13 Jun 1909. They are buried at Powers Cemetery. Lila A. (Powers) Gundrum, 04 Sep 1866 - 1944, married Thomas Edgar Gundrum, 30 Apr 1863 - 1939, son of Larry Gundrum, 26 May 1825 - 14 Apr 1887, and Lovina (Beam) Gundrum, no dates. They are buried at Powers Cemetery. Milo A. Powers, 18 Sep 1868 - 14 Dec 1952, married Annabelle/Anna B. (Hanselman) Powers, 06 Dec 1871 - 25 Jul 1943, daughter of Franklin H. Hanselman, 1848 - 1915, and Lucina J. (Everett) Hanselman, 1852 - 1940. They are buried at Powers Cemetery. Noted on page 1466 in the cemetery book, "Milo and Anna Powers reared Harold Raymond Powers, son of Elmo Myron Powers and his 1st wife, Edith Estella (Fox) Powers who died 26 Apr 1909 when Harold Raymond was born."
