STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 1904, page 1, column 5 MARY ADALINE (GALE) RHOADS, 28 Dec 1849 - 10 Feb 1904 Mary Adaline Gale, daughter of Daniel and Rachel Gale was born in Angola, Ind., Dec 28, 1849, and departed from this life in Los Angeles, Cal., Feb. 10, 1904. She was married to Samuel B. Rhoads, Aug. 29, 1879. Three children were born to them, who with the husband survive her. These are Ruth, who is married and living at Colorado Springs; Russel, an art student in school at East Liverpool, Ohio; and Paul who was with her in Low Angeles. The family home was established at Goshen, Ind., then removed in turn to Abilene, Kan., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Los Angeles, Cal. Her husband, son and sister, Mrs. N. P. Lewis, were with her during her last illness. For years she had been in quite poor health. She contracted a cold on Christmas day, and this was followed by grip which sapped her vitality. On the evening of Feb. 9th, she was suddenly seized by that fatal third stroke of paralysis, and after a night of unconscious struggle her spirit freed itself from its temple of clay and went home to God. In early childhood she gave herself to Christ, and life's years with its trying experiences, but served to increase her faith in Him, whom not having seen she loved, and in whom believing she rejoiced with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Her frail body was laid to rest in beautiful Rosedale cemetery, beneath whose green sward and fragrant flowers, its dust shall mingle with that of earth, while her spirit joins in the fellowship of the saints and the service of Our Lord in the Father's many mansioned house.
