MELINDA (MENGES) RITTER, 20 May 1844 - 22 Apr 1902

   Melinda Menges was born in Wayne county, Ohio, May 20, 1844, died at 
her home in Hudson, Ind., April 22, 1902, aged 57 years, 11 months and 2 
days.  In 1852 she moved with her parents to Steuben county, Ind., where 
she had since resided; was married to David Ritter, October 6, 1861.  To 
them were born six children, five sons and one daughter.  Her husband and 
one son preceded her to the spirit world.  She joined the United Brethern 
church eight years ago and was faithful until death which came to her very 
suddenly.  She leaves to mourn their loss, four sons and one daughter, two 
brothers and a host of relatives and friends.  Rev. A. H. Tussing 
conducted the funeral services at Lake Valley church, April 25, buried at 
Mt. Zion.

   Melinda/Malinda (Menges) Ritter, 20 May 1844 - 22 Apr 1902, married 
David Ritter, 31 Oct 1831/32 - 13 Oct 1889, son of Henry and Mary 
(Harpster) Ritter.  Melinda and David are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 
Steuben County, Indiana.  Melinda was the daughter of Adam Menges, 28 Jul 
1809 - 04 Mar 1891, and his 1st wife, Catharine (Huffvines/Hoffheins) 
Menges, 19 Sep 1807 - 15 May 1863.  They are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery. 
On 07 Jul 1867, he married for the 2nd time, Julia Savary, born in 1830.

   I. D. Ritter, 15 Dec 1864 - 18 Aug 1866, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 
aged 1 year, 8 months and 3 days.
Possible sons:
   Levi Ritter, 1862 - 1948, on 11 Sep 1881, married Lovina (Mountz) 
Ritter, 02 May 1865 - 26 May 1926, daughter of Jonas and Magdalena 
(Fetterhoff) Mountz.  Levi and Lovina are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
   William Ritter, 1871 - 10 Oct 1949, on 22 Oct 1892, married Orpha Mae 
Ritter, 1872 - 03 Nov 1944, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
