STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMER 19, 1900, pg. 5, col. 4,5 MARY ANN (COMSTOCK) ROSE, 03 Jul 1817 - 15 Sep 1900 Mary Ann Comstock was born July 3, 1817, in the township of Independence, Cuyahoga county, Ohio. She was the third child and second daughter of Stephen and Charlotte Comstock, who were natives of Connecticut, and pioneer settlers of Northern Ohio, locating there when that region was still occupied by Indians. April 12, 1837, she was united in marriage with Jacob O. Rose, in Bedford, adjoining the township in which she was born. Two sons and a daughter were born to them, the latter dying at the age of five months. The sons, Elias O. and Minard F., survive her. In October, 1845, Jacob O. Rose and family moved from Cleveland, Ohio, to York township, Steuben county, Indiana, and, except about thirteen years that she lived in Big Rapids, Mich., York townwhip has been her home. At the age of fifteen she was baptized and united with the Methodist church. Nine years later she united with the Christian church and remained a member ever after. For the past twenty years she has lived with her youngest son, Minard F. Rose, in York township, at whose home she died Sept. 15, 1900, aged 83 years, 2 months and 12 days. A brother living in Pomeroy, and a sister living in Independence, Ohio, her sons, Elias O. and Minard F. and their families including six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive her. Funeral at the Powers church Sunday afternoon, Sept. 16, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating. Stephen was born about 12 Mar 1792 and died 12 Jan 1857, aged 65 years and 10 months. Charlotte was born 13 Aug 1789 and died in 1829 in Ohio. Mary Ann married Jacob Overrocker Rose, 18 May 1814 - 24 Oct 1883, son of Elias and Eva (Overrocker) Rose. Mary and Jacob are buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Elias Overrocker Rose, 13 Oct 1838 - 22 Oct 1909, married Harriet (Powers) Rose, 30 Sep 1840 - 07 Dec 1925, daughter of Calvin Powers, 05 Mar 1808 - 06 Jan 1878, and his 1st wife, Maria Emeline (Carey) Powers, 02 Jun 1817 - 22 Sep 1848, aged 31 years, 3 months and 20 days. Elias and Harriet are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Minard Fitch Rose, 09 Dec 1841 - 1923, married Ann Eliza (Powers) Rose, 02 Jan 1839 - 29 Mar 1916, daughter of Winn and Betsey (Reeves) Powers.
