STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 1897, page 8, column 4 SUSAN M. ISENHOUR RUSSELL, 07 Nov 1830 - 09 Jun 1897 DIED at her home in Angola, Indiana, on Wednesday morning, June 9, 1897, after an illness of nearly one year, Susan M., wife of Peter W. Russell, aged 66 years, 7 months and 3 days. Susan M. Isenhour was born in Hopewell, Ontario county, New York. In 1855, at the age of 25 years, she was united in marriage with Peter W. Russell, with whom she lived a happy and contented life for more than forty years. Soon after their marriage Mr. And Mrs. Russell settled at Quincy, Michigan, three years later moved to Orland, and in 1859, took up their residence in Angola, where they engaged in keeping hotel, a business which they were both especially adapted and in which they succeeded in accumulating a large amount of this world's goods. To them were born two children, Clarence, who died at the age of eighteen months, and Maud, the younger, now the wife of Morton D. Teal, of Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Russell was very highly respected by all who knew her, and her deeds of charity were many. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Christian church in Angola and died in full hope of inheriting the promises in store for the faithful in Christ's service. Of the near relatives of the deceased there are left to mourn, the husband, daughter and granddaughter, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Fox, and three brothers, Leonard, Abram and Newman, the last being in attendance at the funeral. Funeral services were held at the beautiful home on South Wayne Street and were attended by a large audience of friends and neighbors, including the Woman's Relief Corps and King's Daughters, of which societies she was an honored member; all anxious to manifest as best they could, the sterling worth of the one who had gone out from their presence. The earnest words of her pastor, Elder Chas. S. Medbury, were in perfect accord with the good life she had lived, and the beautiful floral offerings, silent tokens of mortality, combined to make the services unusually impressive.
