STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1903, page 1, column 6 JOEL RUTAN, 22 Jan 1820 - 03 Feb 1902 Joel A. Rutan, son of Lewis and Cathrine Rutan, was born in Harrison county, Ohio, January 22, 1820. Died at his home two miles west of Hudson, Ind., Feb. 8, 1903, aged 83 years and 11 days. He was married to Mary Ellen Miller about the year 1868 and moved west. After three years, they returned to the farm where he lived the rest of his life. A wife, four children and a host of friends mourn their loss. Three children are dead. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church, Feb. 5, at 10 a. m. Burial in County Line cemetery, F. B. Son, Lewis Calvin Rutan, 25 Aug 1846 - 27 Dec 1859, aged 13 years, 4 months and 2 days, buried at County Line Cemetery. Joel married 2nd, Mary Ellen (Miller) Rutan, 1842 - 1911, buried at County Line Cemetery. Olive B.
