Steuben-Republican June 1926 Mrs. Frank G. Salisbury Barbara Ellen Pocock January 30, 1857--June 18, 1926 On Thursday evening, June 18, 1926, the gates of eternal life opened to admit one of God's gentlewomen, a wife, a mother and a friend, from the full enjoyment of a life of peace, love and contentment she passed on leaving a husband, four children and twelve grandchildren, and a host of friends. Barbarba Ellen Salisbury, daughter of Levi and Barbara Pocock, was born in Tuscararus County, Ohio, January 30, 1857. she lost her mother when she was six years old, after a few years when a mere girl, she assumed the role of mother and home keeper for her father and a family of four brothers and a sister. She was married to Frank G. Salisbury, February 28, 1879, in their home in Geneva, Nebraska, where their son was born, coming back to Indiana in 1883, they bought a farm 3 and 1/2 miles east of Orland, where their three daughters were born. For several years they lived at Orland and Shady Nook, Lake Gage. She was a member of the congregational Church of Orland, and served several years as Chaplain of Orland Chapter of Eastern Star. She often spoke how happy she was in their new home, northwest of Orland. There in the first serious illness of her life she passed away, aged 69 years 4 months and 18 days. At her bedside were her husband and four children, Earl C., of Bluffton, Indiana; Geneva Fashbaugh, of Saranac, Michigan; Irene, of St. Petersburg Florida; and Winifred, of Washington, D.C. She was a mother and a wife whose supreme care was family, an ideal neighbor and friend. Funeral services were held at the late home near Orland, on Monday, June 21, conducted by Rev. C.C. Mitchell, pastor of the Congregational Church of Hudson, Michigan, assisted by Rev. Walfred Lindstrom, of Pleasant Lake. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland. Submitted by J.A. Childers
