Phebe Lounsbury Sams - Was born Feb. 15, 1832 in Weedsport, Cayuaga County New York, and at the age of thirteen years came with her parents to Detroit, Mich. where she spent the happiest year of her school life. In the spring of 1844, the family moved to Jackson Township, Steuben County, Indiana, when the county was very new.

In October 1849, five years after her arrival here she joined in marriage with Daniel Sams and to the union was born one child, Daniel N. Her Husband Daniel Sams died Nov. 20, 1851 and on April 21, 1853 she was joined in marriage with Darius Sams and after just fifty-five years of married life together she bid farewell to earth scenes and went into the heavenly home April 21, 1908, aged 76 years 2 months and 6 days. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Effie Beers.

At the age of eleven years the deceased was baptized and united with the M.E.. Church, for over 35 years was identified with this church at Flint near her home. She possessed a sweet, gentle christian character, growing riper, and more patient and loving as the days went by. Among the parting words to her friends were the following.
"I have loved you all, O, so much; but Jesus best of all." Truly, those who knew her best loved her most.

She leaves to mourn their loss, a husband, one brother, two children, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, with nephews, nieces and many dear friends.
