Sargent, aged 67 years, 11 months and 17 days. Deceased was for many years a resident of Metz, where her husband kept hotel, and was well known to very many of our citizens and highly esteemed for her rare social qualities. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Eliza J. (Thornsbury) Sargent, 15 Oct 1828 - 01 Oct 1896, in 1843, married William E. Sargent, 09 Aug 1821 - 20 Feb 1897. They died at Garret, DeKalb County, Indiana. The 1880 United States Census, Garrett, DeKalb, Indiana, Family History Library Film #1254274, NA Film #T9-0274, page #215A, lists them as Hotel Keepers. William's obituary lists her as Eliza B. while the Old Settlers article lists her as Eliza J. and the census lists her as Eliza J. In 1861, husband William enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant in Co. A, 29th Ind. Resigned his commission in 1862 due to poor health. He was the first commander of Charles Case Post, G.A.R. at Garrett, Indiana. CHILDREN: William's obituary states they had six children but only 5 are named: Theodore C.
