STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 1901, page 1, column 6 JOHN SATTISON, 06 Mar 1821 - 20 Apr 1901 John Sattison was born in Pennsylvania, March 6, 1819. He grew to manhood in Huron county, Ohio, where on Nov. 17, 1842, he was joined in marriage with Maria Stotts, and in 1851 they came to Steuben county and settled in York township on Section 7 where he has since resided. He cast his first vote in 1840 for General Harrison. To the union were born three sons, William, Frederick and Adam. He was called to mourn the death of his wife, Oct. 23, 1897; also his son, Fred, Dec. 19, 1899. Two sons, three brothers, six grand-children and three great-grandchildren, with many friends, are left to mourn his death which occurred at his home April 20, 1901, aged 82 years, 1 month and 14 days. The funeral was held at the Summit church, Sunday, conducted by Rev. Frost, of Fremont. Adam Sattison, 1855 - 17 Mar 1908, married Eva J. (Dygert) Sattison, 09 Feb 1859 - 13 Jan 1919, daughter of Henry Adam and Hannah M. Dygert. They are buried at Dygert Cemetery.
