From a newspaper obituary for Mary H. Saul from the estate sale of Dessa
Mae (Sunday) Wolf 25 Nov 2000 -

                           Mary H. Saul
"Mary Hoyer Saul eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam'l Hoyer, was born Aug.
2, 1843, in Hancock Co., Ohio, and passed away Oct. 16, 1916, being 73 years,
2 months, and 14 days of age.
She was united in marriage to James Monroe Saul, of Hillsdale, Mich., Dec.
24, 1967. [this must be an error and probably should read 1867]
To this happy union were born 3 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom survive
her.
Moved to their present home in Grant township, in 1874, where they were
among the early pioneers and bringing the present farm out of the very forest
itself.
She was early converted and became a member of the U.B. church, later she
united with the Methodist church at Claire.
Although kept often from church services there last year she ever retained
her christian faith.  She leaves to mourn their loss one brother, Jake Hoyer,
of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and one sister, Mrs. Lan Saul, also of Pleasant
Land, Indiana, both of whom visited her at her home this summer, three sons,
Garfield and Samuel, of Dover, and Frank of Greenwood, two daughters, Joie
Hoover, of Dover, and Mrs. Myrtie Hoover, of Greenwood, and many other
relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the Dover church at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 18th. Rev. S.W. Large officiating and interment was made at Cherry Grove
cemetery."
