STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 1901 JOHN R. SHANK, 27 Feb 1819 - 09 Jan 1901 John R. Shank was born in Lancaster county, Pa., Feb. 27, 1819, and died at his home in Angola, Indiana, January 9, 1901, aged 81 years, 10 months and 9 days. Mr. Shank came to Indiana about 1846, and June 11, 1848, in Wayne county, this state, was united in marriage with Polly Lizear, who survives him. To them four children were born, of whom two are still living, Daniel and Henry A. Shank, both of our community. The bereaved have the loving thought and sympathy of a wide circle of friends who hold Father Shank in kindest memory. Funeral occurred at the home in Angola, Indiana, Friday, Jan. 11, Elder C. S. CHILDREN: Daniel Jacob Shank, 19 Apr 1849 - 31 Jan 1938, married Malinda C. (Dague) Shank, 10 Mar 1853 - 18 Jan 1918. Maria A. (Shank) Straw, 05 Jun 1850 - 28 Jan 1871, 1st wife of George W. Straw, 10 Nov 1841 - 07 Nov 1915. Henry A. Shank, 1853 - 1935, married Ida V. (Wilson) Shank, 1859 - 1937. All of the above are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben county, Indiana, except Maria and George Straw who are buried at Fremont Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
