STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1902, page 1, column 3 GEORGE W. SHEETS, 03 Sep 1840 - 10 Dec 1902 George W. Sheets, son of Micheal and Betsey Sheets, was born in Marion Co., Ohio, Sept. 3rd, 1840, and died at his home in Fremont, Ind., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1902, aged 62 years, 8 months and 7 days. He enlisted in the Fifth Indiana Cavalry at the beginning of the war and served until the close. He was discharged in Sept. and the following Dec. 25, 1865, was united in marriage with Lucy D. Reed. Since that time he has made his home in Fremont. He was a true friend, and did his part as a loyal citizen in the battle of life. During the past few years he has been a great sufferer, but bore his pains heroically, expressing no fear of death. He leaves a wife, a son and daughter, and other relatives to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the home Friday, Dec. 12, Rev. Reichelderfer officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: George W.
