STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WENDESDAY, July 28, 1897, page 4, column 3 NANCY GUNSAULLUS SHORTER, 15 Dec 1813 - 11 Jul 1897 (picture included) DIED at her home northwest of Hudson, July 11, 1897, Mrs. Nancy Shorter, aged 83 years, 6 months and 26 days. Nancy Gunsaullus was born in Semfronans(?), Cayuza Co., New York, Dec. 15, 1813. When four years of age she moved wih her parents to Richland county, Ohio, where on Nov. 12, 1835, she was united in marriage by the Rev. Arbeth Nott to Jacob Brink Shorter, and to them were born six sons and four daughters, three of whom preceded her to the other world. She with her husband and family moved to Steuben county, Ind., in October 1859, and settled on the farm where they both died. She leaves four sons and three daughters to mourn their loss all of whom except one son were with her at her death. Mother Shorter was a kind and affectionate mother to her children and loved by all her neighbors and acquaintances. She united with the Presbyterian church at Plymouth, Ohio, about sixty years ago, and has lived a consistent and conscientious christian life ever since. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. U. A. foster from the M. E. church at Hudson, and were largely attended. The remains were interred beside those of her husband in the County Line Cemetery. Those present from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Abbott, Pioneer, Ohio; D. G. Shorter and Mrs. A. A. McCoy, Traverse City, Mich., W. W. Gunsaullus, Bryan; David Gunsaullus, wife and three sons and wives and Mrs. Nan Garlick, Fayette, Ohio; Mrs. Daniel Gunsaullus, Wichita, Kan.; Daniel Howe, Shelby, Ohio; C. F.
