STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29, 1900, page 1, columns 6, 7 AMANDA (CHARD) SHUMAKER, 07 Feb 1834 - 19 Aug 1900 Amanda Chard Shumaker was born in Marion county, Ohio, Feb. 7, 1834, and departed this life August 19, 1900, aged 66 years, 6 months and 12 days. She moved with her parents to this state when but a child, and was united in marriage to John Shumaker, July 25, 1851. To this union were born eight children, five sons and three daughters. The husband, three daughters and one son preceding her to the spirit land. In 1872 she made a public profession of faith and united with he U. B. church, and has since lived a devoted christian life. She leaves four sons, eleven grandchildren, one brother and a larger circle of friends. We have lost a loving mother and true friend but our loss is her eternal gain. The services were held at Mt. Zion, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. A. F. McCloe. Burial in Mt. Zion cemetery. Syrenous Shumaker married Martha E. (Coggswell) Shumaker, 1858 - 1930, buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. John Shumaker, 25 Jul 1864 - 29 Jun 1932, married Addie (Ringler) Shumaker, 06 Feb 1866 - 19 Dec 1913, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Elijah Shumaker, 1871 - 21 Jun 1934, married 1st, Nettie (Lininger) Shumaker, 1873 - 1901. Married 2nd, Emma Jane (Wolf) Shumaker, 12 Jan 1882 - 03 Jul 1970, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery. George Shumaker, 30 Nov 1876 - 17 Nov 1941, married Rosa Esther (Parker) Shumaker, 1879 - 13 Sep 1951, buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
