STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1903, page 1, column 6 ELLA MAY (YOUNGS) SIMS, 27 Nov 1849 - 20 Mar 1903 Ella Youngs was born in Steuben county, Ind., Nov. 27, 1849, and died in Branch county, Mich., March 20, 1903, aged 53 years, 3 months and 23 days. She was united in marriage with William Sims, Dec. 24, 1866, in Steuben county, Ind., where they have always made their home with the exception of about 18 months, that time being spent in Michigan. To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters, Lennie Sims, Angola; Norman Sims, Bronson, Mich.; Clare, wife of J. S. Davis, Bronson, Mich.; and Emma, wife of Charles Pifer, Fremont, all of whom with the husband, aged mother, one brother, six grand-children and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of one who has been near and dear to them. Although she was a member of no church, yet she was a strong believer in Christ and lived a life in harmony with her profession. In the community where she lived so long she was loved, honored and respected for her true, upright, christian life and her patience and cheerfulness through extreme suffering, her kindness as a neighbor and constancy as a friend. Although a great sufferer for weeks before she died, yet there was no murmurings from her lips nor discord in the heart, for she was hopefully, cheerfully and peacefully looking upward to that brighter and better home above in the Beautiful City of God. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church, East Gilead, Mich., Rev. Peters, of Orland, officiating. Burial in the Mallory cemetery, Jamestown, Ind.
