STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, September 1, 1897, page 1, column 1 ELIZABETH THRASHER SLAYBAUGH, 08 Jan 1838 - 24 Aug 1897 Mrs. Elizabeth Thrasher Slaybaugh, who was born in Delaware county, O., Jan. 8, 1838, died at her home near Metz, Ind., August 24, 1897. Having moved with her parents to this county in 1853, she has since resided in this vicinity. Her life has been that of an earnest devoted Christian, a blessing and benediction to her home, community and church. Converted at the early age of eight years, her life has been an example of patient Christian labor and devotion. In 1855 she united with the Pleasant Lake Baptist church with which organization she retained her membership until her death. October 9, 1862, she was united in marriage to Isaac Slaybaugh. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom with the father and husband survive her. The funeral was conducted at the home by the pastor of the Pleasant Lake Baptist church and the remains laid to rest in the Pleasant Lake cemetery. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Elizabeth M. The only deceased children listed under Slaybaugh are buried at the North Otsego cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Charles D. Slaybaugh, 1872 - 1964, married Myrtle E. Slaybaugh, 1872 - 1962.
