STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1902, page 4, column 1 DANIEL SLICK, 12 Feb 1825 - 29 Jul 1902 Daniel Slick was born in the State of New York, in the district then known as the "Holland Purchase." Feb. 12, 1825, died in Angola, Ind., July 29, 1902, aged 77 years, 5 months and 17 days. His father, John E. Slick, was a German, and is well remembered in that country by old settlers as a soldier in the wars of Napoleon Bonaparte. The father with his family located in Salem township in 1841, and opened a farm on section 16, on which the subject of this sketch has lived almost continually ever since. He was united in marriage with Esther Hibbard, Dec. 19, 1843, and to this union were born nine children, six of whom with the widowed and invalid mother, two brothers and two sisters survive. Mr. Slick has always been known in this community as an honest, upright citizen, a good neighbor, a kind father and an affectionate husband, and for the last fifteen years a consistent member of the M.
