LISSIE SMITH from Herald Republican, May 19, 1999, page 4A, column 4 Lissie Smith (Aug. 20, 1902-May 16, 1999) Orland resident Lissie Smith, 96, died Sunday at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange. She was born Aug. 20, 1902, in LaGrange County, to Walter and Margaret (Funk) Fair. Mrs. Smith worked as a shipping clerk at Douglass Manufacturing Co. and retired in 1964. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd O. Stayner in 1936, and her husband, Dewey Smith in 1975. She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Evans and Joan Penix, both of Orland, and Margaret Truran of Madison Heights, Mich.; one son, Allison Stayner of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three sons, Basil Stayner in 1934, Leland Stayner in 1950 and Wardelle Stayner in 1956. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Jackson Prairie Cemetery, south of Orland, with the Rev. Rodger Strong officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Prairie Cemetery, south of Orland. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Lissie's first husband, Floyd Oliver Stayner, was the son of James Oliver and Nellie Helen (Davis) Stayner. Floyd was born, 16 Sep 1900, and died, 15 Feb 1936. She married her second husband, Dewey Smith, on 09 Mar 1946. He was born in 1901 and died, 30 Dec 1975. Son, Basil Henry Stayner, was born, 26 Jun 1933, and died, 12 Jan 1934. Son, Leland Walter Stayner was born, 28 May 1925, and died, 15 Apr 1950, while serving in the U. S. Navy. Son, Wardell Howard Stayner, was born, 26 Nov 1923, and died, 26 Jan 1956.
