STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21, 1900 DAVID SNOWBERGER, 07 Aug 1820 - 07 Mar 1900 David Snowberger was born near Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, August 7th, 1820, and died at the home of his son, Peter Snowberger, near Ashley, Steuben county, March 7th, 1900, aged 79 years and 7 months. He with his parents moved from Pennsylvania to Ashland county, Ohio, when he was quite young. February 21, 1845, he was married to Evoline Haughey. To this union were born eight children, seven sons and one daughter, five sons surviving them, two sons and the daughter dying in infancy. In the spring of 1848 he came to Steuben county and entered the land he owned at the time of his death. On May 10th of the same year he received a sheep skin deed for his land, from the land office at Ft. Wayne, Indiana. This deed has the signature of President James K. Polk. After locating his land he returned to Ohio for his family. In October they arrived at their new home in Steuben county, where they resided until June 12, 1888, when his wife died. Since that time he has made his home with his sons. Mr. Snowberger was a man of sterling integrity and was honored by all who knew him, an affectionate husband and kind father. He with his wife in early years united with the German Baptist church and always lived christian lives. Funeral services were held at the East church in Pleasant Lake, Friday, March 9th, 1900, Rev. He married 2nd, Mrs. Clara Baker Snowberger, 1857 - Aug 1923. He married 3rd, Mrs. Ellen B. Lininger, 1857 - 1941. All are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery. Peter Snowberger, 1848 - 1927, married Martha Jane (Teeters) Snowberger, 1856 - 1941. They are buried at O-HUD cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Lafayette Snowberger, 09 Apr 1857 - 21 Apr 1857, aged 12 days, buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery. Elizabeth Snowberger, no dates or age, buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery.
