STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 1900, page 5, column 5 ELIZABETH (RICE) SOUDER, 27 Dec 1825 - 31 Jul 1900 DIED at her home in Otsego township, Steuben county, Indiana, July 31, 1900, Elizabeth, wife of Amos Souder, aged 74 years, 7 months and 4 days. Elizabeth Rice was born in Washington county, Penn., Dec 27, 1825, and was married to Amos Souder, April 2, 1846, in Crawford county, Ohio. To the union were born seven children, three of whom, with the husband, survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Souder came to Steuben county in November 1869, and the next February moved to the farm where she died. She was a kind wife and loving mother, and was held in highest esteem by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at the Brick church on Friday, Aug. 3rd, Rev. Weaver officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Elizabeth (Rice) Souder, 27 Dec 1825 - 31 Jul 1900, married Amos Souder, 27 Feb 1823 - 05 Feb 1921, son of William, 30 Jan 1799 - 25 Aug 1876, and Nancy (Stevens) Souder who died in 1841 at the age of 40 years. All are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana, except Nancy. No record of her death in the cemetery book. CHILDREN: Isaac R. Souder(s), 1850 -1924, married Margaret E. Thompson, 1847 - 1926. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Marcella Souder, 27 Dec 1856 - ___________, married John Markley, 15 Jul 1850 - ______ per marriage license in Steuben County, Indiana, dated 25 Dec 1875. Place of burial not known.
