Deceased was a soldier during the Civil War from Nov. 22, 1861 to Sept. 14, 1865, in Company C., 44th Indiana. Funeral services today at two o'clock at the Sowle Settlement school house under the auspices of the Grand Army. They are buried at Sowle Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. "History of Steuben County, IN - 1885", page 374, states that David Sowle served in Fourty-Fourth Infantry, Indiana, Company A.
