STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 04, 1899, page 1, column 6 EXPERIENCE WHALEY SOWLE, 16 May 1809 - 05 Jan 1899 DIED, at the home of her son, Dwight, in Angola, Indiana, Jan. 5, 1899, Experience W. Sowle, aged 89 years, 7 months and 20 days. Aunt Polly, as she was familiarily known by so many people in Angola, was born in Oneida county, New York, May 16, 1809, and was married to Adam Sowle, May 4, 1830, and moved to Steuben county settling near Fremont in 1850. Eleven children were born to he union, seven of whom having preceded her to the better world. Her husband died Oct. 18, 1887, after having lived together for 57 years. The surviving children are Dwight and Lee M. Sowle, Mrs. Sarah A. Burdick, of Freemont, and Mrs. Julia Kane, of Hillsdale, also 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
