Mrs. Julia Sowle Stallman, 83, died Sunday, May 27, in Auburn, shortly after
suffering a stroke at the home of her son, Carl Stallman, superintendent of
the DeKalb county schools.  Besides the son, she is survived by two foster
daughters, Mrs. Margaret Whaley of Coldwater, Mich., and Mrs. Luana Porter,
of Metz; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Moody of Angola, and one grandson.  
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Gerig Funeral Home in
Auburn with Rev. David Nielson and Rev. Joseph Ferguson officiating, and
burial was in the Powers cemetery at Metz.

Date on the newspaper clipping was 1945.  
Note:  Margaret (Blackman) Whaley and Luana (Blackman) Porter were children
of Julia's older sister, Cytheria Jeanette Sowle, who was married to William
E. Blackman.  She died shortly after childbirth in 1904.  Alice took Margaret
and Luana to raise.
