DALE DAVIS STAYNER from Steuben Republican, October 23, 1918, pg 1, col 4 DALE DAVIS STAYNER Dale Davis Stayner, son of Oliver and Nellie Stayner, was born January 22, 1888, and passed away October 16, 1918, aged 30 years, 8 months and 24 days, a victim of the prevailing epidemic after a relapse from exposure. (Note: refers to the world wide flu epidemic of 1918) He was married January 2, 1909, to Bernice Weiss. To this union were born 5 children. He leaves besides his wife and children, his parents; grandmother, Jane Stayner; four brothers: Winn of Kimball, Mont.; Frank, of Orland; Bliss E. and Floyd O., both in service in France; five sisters: Mrs. Carroll Keyes of Hillsdale; Mrs. Laura Blanning, White Sulphur Springs, Mont.; Mrs. Lucile Hedglin, of Orland; Bess and Cordilia (misspelled), both at home. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Dale's children are: Owen Powers Stayner, Frances Stayner, Hannah (Stayner) Parsons, Willetta Stayner, and Nellie Jane Stayner. Dale's father, James Oliver Stayner, died 09 Jan 1939. Dale's mother, Nellie Helen (Davis) Stayner, died 15 Apr 1938. Dale's grandmother, Dolly Jane (Powers) Stayner, died 15 Jan 1925. Brothers: Perry Winn Stayner, died 04 Aug 1951. Frank Alcott Stayner, died 12 Nov 1941. Bliss Eugene Stayner Sr., died 17 Nov 1923. Floyd Oliver Stayner, died 15 Feb 1936. Sisters: Jennie Carroll (Stayner) Keyes, died 10 Oct 1926. Laura Ellen (Stayner) Blanning, died in 1960. Emma Lucile (Stayner) Hedglin, died 24 Feb 1978. Bess Eliza Stayner, died 16 Apr 1928. Helen Cordelia (Stayner) Kewin, died 17 Dec 1932. Dale is buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, Indiana, in addition to most of his siblings and parents and grandparents.
