ELIZA JANE STAYNER from Steuben Republican, October 24. 1883, pg 8, col 3 ELIZA JANE STAYNER Mrs. Eliza Jane Stayner, wife of Milton Stayner, of Jackson township, died on Sunday, October 21, aged 55 years, 8 months and 23 days. She was one of the pioneers of Jackson township. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her departure from earth. She was a sister of Mrs. J. M. Johnson of Jackson, and Mrs. W. H. Green, of Orland. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, Elder Higby conducting the services. ADDITIONAL NOTES: Eliza Jane (Campbell) Stayner was born 21 Feb 1828 in New York. On 04 Oct 1846, she married Milton Stayner who was the son of John and Sarah (Huntsman) Stayner, pioneer settlers of Steuben County. Milton was born 12 Dec 1824 in Perry, Richland County, Ohio, and died 09 Apr 1911 in Jackson Township, Steuben County, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances J. Stayner who was born about 23 Aug 1854 and died 26 Feb 1865; an infant son who was born and died on 12 Oct 1860; another infant son, Elmer Stayner, who was born and died on 15 Aug 1867. The children who survived at her death were: William Leroy Stayner (about 1847 -07 Nov1922) who married Jane Matilda Castell on 04 Jul 1875; Mary Eliza Stayner, born 08 Apr 1852 (date of death unknown), who married John Burlew on 15 Mar 1874; Adelbert M. Stayner (11 Feb 1863 - 07 Mar 1950) who married Harriett Shaffstall; Emma Marie Stayner (05 May 1826-1921) who married Elmer Humphrey.
