FRANK STAYNER from Steuben Republican, November 26, 1941, pg 2, cols. 6 & 7 FRANK STAYNER Frank Stayner, son of Oliver and Nellie Davis Stayner, was born on Jackson Prairie, August 1, 1897, and departed this life, November 12, 1941, at Deer Lodge, Montana, at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 12 days. He received his education in the Orland public school after which he worked for different farmers around the community, always proving very faithful and trustworthy at any line of duty. About 1917, he decided to go west, and went to Miles City, Montana, where he worked on different ranches. Seven years ago he went to Deer Lodge in Western Montana. Here he was camp tender on a large sheep ranch, taking provisions on pack horses, into the mountains, for the sheep herders. He was a great lover of horses and it was while riding horseback that he met his fatal accident. During his stay in the west, he made several visits back to Indiana and in his quiet way brought many interesting stories of life on a ranch. Frank was one of a family of ten children, of whom only three survive: Winn Stayner, of Raleigh, N. Dakota; Mrs. Laura Blanning of Cambridge, Mass.; and Mrs. Lucile Hedglin, of Hudson, Indiana, together with a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends who mourn his untimely death. Card of Thanks We are truly grateful for all who participated in any way to make the burden of sorrow lighter during the service and burial of our brother, Frank Stayner. Thanks for the floral offerings, to the Rev. Warner and for all expressions of sympathy spoken.
