FRANK STAYNER from Steuben Republican, November 19, 1941, pg 1, col 5 Frank Stayner Killed on Montana Ranch Frank Stayner, former Orland man, was killed on his ranch near Deer Lodge, Montana, last week, when he fell or was thrown from the horse he was riding. His foot caught in the stirrup and he was thrown against a fence when dragged some distance. When Mr. Stayner's body was found, it was discovered he had suffered face and skull injuries, as well as broken ribs. He was the fifth of his family to die in recent years, several of the family having suffered tragic deaths. A nephew, Junior Stayner, of Orland, was killed in a motorcycle crash this summer. Winn Stayner, a brother, living in Raleigh, North Dakota, brought the body to Orland, where funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brown on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Howard Warner. Burial was in the Jackson Prairie Cemetery. Two sisters, Lucile Hedglin of Salem and Laura Blanning of Cambridge, Mass. also survive. ADDITIONAL NOTES: Frank Stayner was the son of James Oliver and Nellie Helen (Davis) Stayner. Frank was born 01 Aug 1897 and died 12 Nov 1941.
