JESSE STAYNER

        Son of John and Sarah Stayner, was born in Richland county, Ohio, 
April 2, 1823, and when a boy eight years of age came with his parents to 
Jackson Prairie. This was in the year 1831 while what is now Steuben county 
was included in the bounds of LaGrange county. Here, while the balance of 
Steuben county was a wilderness, he grew to manhood, and on Jan. 3, 1853, 
was joined in marriage with Catherine Dilse. To this union were born eleven 
children, one dying in infancy. Besides the children there are left to mourn,
three brothers, 26 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His death 
occurred October 23, 1909, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 21 days.

        Jesse Stayner was the son of John (01 Dec 1796 - 05 Sep 1870) and 
Sarah (Huntsman) Stayner (12 Jan 1797 - 15 Feb 1873). His wife, Catherine 
(Dilse) Stayner was born in Germany on 11 Nov 1833 and died 16 Feb 1911. All 
of them are buried in Jackson Prairie Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, 
Indiana.

Zephaniah B. Stayner, 27 Apr 1832 - 13 Jan 1921, married Mary Kyle.
Melissa (Stayner) Knowles, 1824 - 31 Aug 1937, married George Knowles.
Benjamin Stayner, born 1835, married Mary Bollman.
Polly Stayner, born 1838.

        His children were:

Sarah Lucy Stayner, 26 Apr 1855 - 1947, married to Frank Gannon, Enos Edward 
Borton, and Edward King.
