WARDELL HOWARD STAYNER from Steuben Republican, February 8, 1956, pg 1 Weatherhead Employee Dies in Crash Services were held on Monday afternoon of last week for Wardell Stayner, 32, of Gilead Lake, Michigan, who was fatally injured when his car went out of control about a mile west of the East Gilead store on the Saturday morning previous. Stayner was an employee in the Weatherhead plant in Angola, and was enroute home. It is thought that he went to sleep at the wheel as tire marks showed that the car ran on the berm some distance away from the accident. The car ran into a concrete post and was a total wreck. Stayner suffered a broken neck, a fractured right arm and left leg and also chest injuries. Stayner was a member of the Orland post of the American Legion and had spent his entire life in the Bronson-Orland area. He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Bogucki; a daughter, Carmen; a son, Leland; his mother Mrs. Dewey Smith, Orland; a brother, Allison, Pleasant Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Joan Booth, Bronson; Mrs. Virginia Evans, Orland; and Mrs. Margaret Hatch, Detroit. ADDDITONAL NOTES: Wardell Howard Stayner was born, 26 Nov 1923, and died, 26 Jan 1956. He was the son of Floyd Oliver Stayner (16 Sep 1900 - 15 Feb 1936) and Lissie (Fair) Stayner Smith (20 Aug 1902 - 16 May 1999). Wardell's wife, Alice Bogucki, was born, 08 Apr 1924, in Branch County, Michigan, and died, 03 July 1960. They had an infant daughter, Rita Kay Stayner, born Sep 1949 and died in Nov. 1949.
