STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 1903, page 1, column 6 FRANCES ELLEN (WILLIAMS) STEADMAN, 11 May 1840 - 19 Feb 1903 Frances Ellen Williams was born at Newark, Ohio, May 11, 1840, and passed to higher life from her home at Fremont, Indiana, Feb. 19, 1903, aged 62 years, 9 months and 8 days. She moved with her parents to Defiance county, Ohio, in 1850. Dec. 13,1857, she was joined in marriage with George Steadman, who preceded her to the better world on Jan. 27, 1901. To this union was born one child, now Mrs. Bronson, of Fremont. She and her son, Homer Burlingame, were the only children in the home, Homer being brought up and educated by his grandparents and was the same as their own son. Mrs. Steadman was one of a family of six children, two girls and four boys, three of the brothers surviving her. She also leaves a great-grandson, aged six months, child of Homer Burlingame and wife, and named Steadman for the family, together with many friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. D. Charlotte and Jay are buried at Jamestown Cemetery. Grandson, Homer C. Burlingame, 1876 - 1944, married Lizzie (Balbaugh) Burlingame, 1873 - 1969, buried at Jamestown Cemetery.
