Steuben Farmer Takes Own Life

Angola, Mar. 25 –

Frederick Robert Stein, 49, farmhand employed at the Elmer Grabill farm northwest of this city, hanged himself about 11 am today in a corn crib at the Grabill Farm. His employer discovered the body about noon. Dr. L. L. Eberhard, Steuben County Coroner, returned a verdict of suicide and said Stein had been mentally confused for some time.

The body was brought to the Weicht Funeral Home here. It was not known here whether any relatives survive.

It was reported that he had brothers and sisters living or near Fort Wayne, but local authorities had not been able to contact them tonight.

Angola, Mar. 28 –

Funeral services for Frederick R. Stein, 49, who died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home in this city, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Weicht Funeral Home here. Burial will be here.

The deceased was well known as a harp player, and had broadcast over radio station WOWO several times.

Survivors include two brothers, William of Waynedale and Emil Stein of Fort Wayne, and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Witham ad Mrs. George J. Hasty of Fort Wayne.
