Angola Doctor Dies

    Dr. Peter N. Sutherland, aged 65, well-known Steuben County physician, died at his home in Angola Saturday after an illness of six days following a stroke of apoplexy.  He had not been in active practice for a year because of a previous stroke.

     A native of Fingal, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Sutherland received his medical education in the Detroit College of Medicine.  Upon his graduation he began practice in 1896 in the office of Dr. H. D. Wood, in Angola.  In 1900 he married Mina Johnson, of Angola.  In 1906 he was elected secretary of the Angola City Board of Health, a position he held until his death.  He was the physician for the New York Central Railroad at Angola.

    Dr. Sutherland was an associate member of the American Medical Association, a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, secretary of the Tri-State Medical Association, member of the Steuben County Medical Association, and was also a member of the Odd Fellows and the Rebekah lodges.

     Funeral services will be held in the Angola Congregational Church at 2 p.m. Tudsday. Burial will be in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery.  Physicians of Angola will be the active pallbearers.  Surviving are the widow and a brother, Hedley V. Sutherland, of Fingal, Ontario.
