STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 1903, page 1, column 6 MARY (CLARK) SUTTON, 20 Sep 1823 - 12 Apr 1903 Mary Clark Sutton was born Sept. 20, 1823, and died near Angola, Ind., April 12, 1903, aged 79 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was married to David Sutton Nov. 25, 1841. To this union were born two children. Morgan died when about seven years of age. Alfred died in the army at Washington, D.C., at about 20 years of age. In childhood she moved with her parents from Morgan county, Ohio, her parents taking up land on the farm where Levi Bigler now lives, in about the year 1835. She has one sister living in Albany, Oregon. She believed in the one church of which Christ is the head. She believed, as the Bible says, "Without holiness no man shall see the Lord." The funeral was held in the M. E. church, April 15, 1903, at 10 o'clock a.m., and interment in the South Scott cemetery, M. S. Yoder, officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Mary (Clark) Sutton, 20 Sep 1823 - 12 Apr 1903, married David W. Sutton, 18 Oct 1822 - 31 Oct 1887, son of David H. Sutton, who died 06 Oct 1841, and Lucy (Wells) Sutton, who died 07 Jul 1847. Son, Alfred Sutton, 17 Aug 1844 - 08 Feb 1865, member of 125th Indiana Infantry, was killed in the Civil War. All the above are buried at South Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. No information on son Morgan's age or burial place.
