STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 1904, pg.8, c.2 JAMES P. TAYLOR, 12 Sep 1847 - 08 Aug 1904 Last Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at the home of Foster Jadwin and wife occurred the funeral services of James Taylor, who died in Bronson, on the preceding Monday. Mr. Taylor had been in failing health for a long time. Consumption had nearly finished its fatal work, when he calmly placed his hand in the hand of death and forced the "death angel" to do the work quickly, which nature seemed, to his sick, tired, disheartened mind, too slow in accomplishing. With his own hand he launched his frail bark upon the river of death. The Heavenly Father only knows the intensity of suffering that would cause so intelligent, generous and proud a man, and until disease laid its palsying grasp upon him, so energetic a business man as Mr. Taylor to do so sad a thing. The Father, who knows, will judge justly. We who have not passed through the fierce fires of suffering and disappointments can only remain in silence and sadness. Many of us remember Mr. Taylor as a bright happy schoolmate of by-gone days, first in his classes, first in frolic and fun. The tenderest of sympathy is extended to the aged mother, the brothers and sisters who remain. Mr. Taylor was about 57 years of age. Burial in Greenlawn cemetery beside his wife and child.
