STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, February 22, 1899, pg. 1, col.7 EBEN THAYER, 16 Mar 1810 - 21 Feb 1899 DIED at the home of his son-in-law, Emanuel Kratzer, in Angola, Feb. 21, 1899, Eben Thayer, aged 88 years, 11 months and 5 days. Mr. Thayer was born in Oneida Co., New York, March 16, 1810. His parents removed to Genesse county in 1812. He removed to Steuben county in 1837, and settled near Mt. Zion. He was married three times. His first wife, Maria Forward, died about five years after their marriage. To them was born one child which died when eleven months old. His second wife, Amy Golden, died at the age of 37. To them were born six children, three of whom are still living. His third wife, Laura Mason, died about six years ago. To them were born five children, the first one having died when quite young. He came to Angola in 1897, where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Emanuel Kratzer, at whose home he died.
