STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 1901 GEORGE I. TUTTLE, 16 Jun 1831 - 15 Mar 1901 George I. Tuttle was born in Cayuga county, New York, June 16, 1831, and on May 16, 1852, married Miss Harriet Ranney. To this union were born two sons, who are buried in the old cemetery north of Angola. His wife died Dec. 28, 1891, and is buried in Montana. He enlisted Sept. 2, 1861, in Co. A, 29th Indiana Volunteers, and was discharged Aug. 5, 1862. He then re-enlisted Oct. 17, 1862, as sergeant of Co. L, 1st Indiana Calvary, and was discharged July 22, 1863, and for the third time enlisted as 1st Lieut. Co. C, 12th Indiana, Dec. 12, 1863, and was honorably discharged Oct. 15, 1864. He died in Angola on Friday, March 15, 1901, aged 69 years and 9 months. Funeral services were held at the home of John Carson, Jr., conducted by Rev. Neil, the pall bearers being comrades and members of his old company. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: George I.
