Steuben-Republican March 1887

        Jonas Twichell died at his late home in Orland, February 
26,1887, at the advanced age of 86 years.  Mr. Twichell was born 
December 15, 1800 and was married to Malinda Scott October 18, 1823, at 
Coventry, New York, at which place he resided until 1836, when he moved 
with his family to this state and settled on Jackson Prairie.  In 1856, 
he removed to Orland where he continued a resident until his death.  Mr. 
Twichell and the wife of his youth--who preceded him to the world beyond 
but a few weeks--shared each others joys and sorrows for more than sixty 
years.  Nine children were born to them six of whom are still living.
